There is a dubious fast-track formula for success in the art world: think of the craziest, most deranged, offensive, downright lousy thing you could do in art, apply it, and release it into the world. Once you have generated the acceptable following, then you are able to settle in and do what you really want. It worked for Catherine Opie and Andrés Serrano.
